Job Summary

Land Records Specialist at Plains (oil and gas sector) responsible for reviewing and analyzing land documents (rights-of-way, leases, deeds, assignments, bills of sale, contracts), performing data entry into the Land Records Database, and assisting with scanning, indexing, barcoding, and GIS-based asset verification. Duties include plotting land and pipeline legal descriptions, using GIS (ArcGIS) to confirm asset details, organizing and filing Land Documents and maps, coordinating with Land staff and contractors, and supporting special projects and database cleanup while maintaining accuracy, meeting deadlines, and adhering to company policies. Requires strong communication, attention to detail, ability to work in a team, and proficiency with Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Access; experience with mapping software (ArcGIS) preferred; willingness to multitask and adapt and to comply with background checks and drug/alcohol policy.

Required Qualifications

  • 1-3 years Oil and gas land records experience
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing with all levels within the organization and external contacts
  • Self-starter who is eager to learn
  • Team player and responsible
  • Experience with mapping software, particularly ArcGIS strongly preferred
  • Highly flexible and able to multitask and adapt to changing protocol and responsibilities
  • Ability to meet deadlines, occasionally work overtime upon short notice
  • Associate’s Degree or higher preferred, but not required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Access
  • Cleared criminal history (background) and satisfactory reference checks
  • Compliance with drug and alcohol policy including pre-employment D&A testing
