Land Mobile Radio (LMR) Technician III

Job Summary
Manage all Trunked LMR and LMR assets in accordance with Air Force guidelines, tracking issuance and turn-in while ensuring users complete required documentation. Operate and configure the TMLR system, including programming radios and assigning talk groups, and remove or install mobile radios, repeaters, and antennas per manufacturer safety requirements. Coordinate system configuration with the Installation Spectrum Manager and Government COR, process equipment repairs and DD Form 1367, and safeguard network management applications with encryption. Evaluate communications hardware and software to troubleshoot network problems, analyze traffic characteristics, and optimize network topologies for AEDC customers. Provide technical leadership in network integration, schedule conversions, and maintain non-cable plant systems including microwave radios and multiplexers.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years experience supporting technical instrumentation
- Associate's degree or technical diploma in electronics
- Security+ CE certified
- formal training or experience with P25 digital trunking
- formal training or experience with Motorola brand LMR equipment
- knowledge of radio frequency principles
- knowledge of antenna theory and components
- ability to interface with a wide variety of other trades including electricians and telephone technicians
- ability to utilize a wide variety of instruments, tools, and equipment necessary to perform assigned duties
- ability to analyze and understand instruments and circuits
- ability to operate electronics tools associated with the trade
- ability to read and work from blueprints
- ability to use good judgment and common sense when performing job functions
- ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English
- ability to work in confined spaces
- ability to lift and carry up to 30lbs
- ability to reach above shoulders, use fingers and hands, and distinguish colors
- proficiency in MS Office
- valid driver's license
- US citizenship
- current Secret clearance
