Land Development Project Manager

Job Summary

Lead and manage civil engineering design and land development projects, including site layout, grading, utility design, and stormwater management. Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders, preparing, reviewing, and approving design plans, specifications, construction documents, and permitting materials. Coordinate project tasks with internal teams, consultants, and contractors during design and construction phases, while developing proposals, budgets, and project schedules to support business development efforts. Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and standards, with particular knowledge of Virginia market and development codes. This hands-on role requires a Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Virginia or ability to obtain within 6 months and 8+ years of progressively responsible experience in land development engineering.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • 8+ years of progressively responsible experience in land development engineering
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Virginia or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • In-depth knowledge of site development, grading, drainage, utility design, and construction standards
  • Demonstrated success managing client relationships and leading projects in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with a client-focused and collaborative approach
  • Ability to multitask, think critically, and work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Self-motivated with strong leadership potential and commitment to continuous professional development
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and standards, with particular knowledge of Virginia market and development codes

Desired Qualifications

  • Strong proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office
  • Experience with Microsoft Project and GIS software
