Land Acquisition Agent

Job Summary

Identify, evaluate, and secure land opportunities for utility-scale solar and battery energy storage projects throughout the Midwest. Build and maintain relationships with landowners, brokers, attorneys, and surveyors while conducting property ownership research, title reviews, and due diligence. Draft, negotiate, and execute option agreements, leases, easements, and amendments. Coordinate with internal development, legal, engineering, and project management teams to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Travel to meet stakeholders, attend community meetings, and conduct site visits as needed. Monitor milestones and resolve land-related issues impacting project schedules. Maintain accurate records and reporting while understanding local market conditions and permitting requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in land acquisition for renewable energy projects, with a demonstrated history of successfully securing land rights.
  • Experience supporting solar and/or battery energy storage (BESS) development projects.
  • Strong knowledge of land acquisition processes, title research, easements, leases, and real estate transactions.
  • Proven ability to build trust and maintain positive relationships with landowners and community stakeholders.
  • Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating renewable energy land agreements.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple active projects and deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively across cross-functional teams.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the Midwest as project needs require.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with utility-scale renewable energy development.
  • Familiarity with GIS mapping tools, title software, or county land record systems.
  • Knowledge of state and local permitting requirements related to renewable energy projects.
  • Existing network of Midwest landowners, brokers, or industry contacts is a plus.
