Job Summary
Monitor the LaHaye Recreation and Fitness Center Rock Wall during operational hours, ensuring customer safety, facility cleanliness, and adherence to risk management policies. Check in students, assign rental equipment, and assist with teaching rock wall classes, including setting routes, boulder problems, and belaying. Communicate any issues or complaints to the Rock Wall Manager and maintain organized indoor facilities by stocking supplies and cleaning public spaces. Assist with equipment maintenance and support events during evening, night, or weekend shifts. Attend required Campus Recreation trainings and meetings.
Required Qualifications
- Current Liberty University student
- Current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification
- Ability to work up to 18 hours per week
- Availability to work a variety of different shifts (weekends, early morning, afternoon, late night)
- Communication and Comprehension
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well-articulated information
- Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner
- Strong organizational skills
- Problem Solving
- Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature
- Physical and Sensory Abilities
- Frequently required to sit or stand in one location for extended periods to perform tasks assigned to varying positions
- Regularly required to hear and speak in order to effectively communicate orally
- Frequently required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move around the facility
- Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop in order to conduct business
- Regularly lift 40 or fewer pounds
- Ability to complete tasks at heights up to 40ft
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience in rock climbing, rock wall maintenance, and climbing education or instruction
- Experience in a customer service position
- Desire to pursue recreation management as a career field
