Job Summary
Conduct daily lifeguard operations and facility maintenance at LaHaye Rec and the Fit Aquatic Center, ensuring strict adherence to safety policies, risk management procedures, and American Red Cross rescue techniques. Perform regular chemical checks, maintain locker rooms and public spaces, and assist with equipment upkeep during evening, night, and weekend shifts. Communicate customer complaints to the Aquatics Manager and attend all required Campus Recreation trainings. Work up to 18 hours weekly as a Liberty University student, utilizing current Lifeguard, CPR/AED, and First Aid certifications to support campus recreation programming.
Required Qualifications
- Current Liberty University student
- Current Lifeguard Certification
- Current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification
- Ability to work up to 18 hours per week
- Availability to work a variety of different shifts (weekends, early morning, afternoon, late night)
- Must attach semester class schedule and current Lifeguard (including Deep Water) certification upon applying
- Ability to swim at least 300 yards
- Ability to swim with at least 10lbs. of weight
- Ability to swim to bottom of pool
- Ability to tread water without use of hands and arms for at least 5 minutes
- Ability to jump from an elevated position on land into pool
- Regularly lift 40 or fewer pounds
- Regularly hear and speak in order to effectively communicate orally
- Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner
- Proof of a valid driver's license, an acceptable DMV record, LU Driving Approval, and liability insurance is required when driving in the performance of the employee's position
Desired Qualifications
- Current Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Certification
- One year of lifeguarding experience
- Experience in a customer service position
- Desire to pursue recreation management as a career field
