Ladle Operator

Job Summary
Monitor and inspect the ladle refractory and maintain the ladle slide gates and porous plug system. Participate in the CMC Safety Programs and uphold the safety culture. Use oxygen lance to lance open ladle when needed. Inspect slide gate hardware and refractories; change parts as directed. Clean ladles. Assist others (ladle furnace operator, crane operator, etc). Effectively communicate with others about production issues, concerns, and needs. Ensure equipment inspection reports are completed each shift. Perform minor/routine maintenance or repairs without maintenance personnel. Contribute to continuous improvement by suggesting improvements in methods and procedures. Maintain daily housekeeping in the work area. Troubleshoot problems using job knowledge and teamwork. Understand start up, shutdown, and emergency procedures. Ensure tasks directed by Operations Support Management are completed safely and on time. Stay alert to unsafe conditions and report them immediately.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to work overtime when required
- Ability to work a rotating shift, including weekends and holidays
- Basic computer skills
- Dependability in attendance, work completion, and flexibility to meet business needs
- Must be able to learn quickly and multitask
- Ability to work in extreme temperatures, chemicals, dust, fumes, mists, and confined spaces
