Job Summary
Lactation Consultant RN at Medical City Dallas (HCA Healthcare) provides expert lactation management in line with ILCA standards, conducts staff development activities related to breastfeeding management, and serves as an expert consultant to maternal-child staff, physicians, and other healthcare professionals for complex breastfeeding cases. The role includes participation in program development and delivery of family-centered maternity care, with responsibilities spanning clinical lactation support and staff education. Requirements include RN licensure (Texas or compact), IBCLC within two years, two years of maternal-child health nursing in acute care, ongoing lactation education, BLS, and NRP within 3 months. Preferred/required education includes an Associate Degree with BSN within 24 months or BSN, along with ongoing education in lactation. Required Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited professional school of nursing
- If RN, and if hired after 6/1/12, BSN required within 24 months of hire into RN position
- Associate Degree required
- Continuing education in lactation and breastfeeding required
- Minimum of two years’ experience in maternal-child health nursing in an acute care setting, required
- Experience with breastfeeding management required
- Current RN License in the State of Texas or compact license, required
- IBCLC required within two years of hire
- Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS provider
- NRP within 3 months of hire
