Job Summary
Provide expert lactation care in accordance with ILCA Standards of Practice for IBCLC Lactation Consultants; deliver informal and formal staff development learning activities related to breastfeeding management; serve as an expert consultant to maternal-child staff, physicians, and other healthcare professionals in managing patients with complex breastfeeding problems; participate in program development activities; practice within a family-centered maternity care model.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited professional school of nursing
- Current RN License in the State of Texas or compact license
- Associate Degree required
- IBCLC required within two years of hire
- Continuing education in lactation and breastfeeding required
- Minimum of two years’ experience in maternal-child health nursing in an acute care setting
- Experience with breastfeeding management
- BSN required within 24 months of hire if RN hired after 6/1/12
- Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS provider
- NRP within 3 months of hire
