Job Summary
Provides expert lactation management in accordance with ILCA Standards of Practice for IBCLC Lactation Consultants. Delivers informal and formal staff development on breastfeeding management, serves as an expert consultant to maternal-child staff and physicians for complex breastfeeding problems, participates in program development, and practices family-centered maternity care.
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas or compact license
- IBCLC certification within two years of hire
- BSN preferred or RN with BSN progression
- Associate Degree in Nursing required
- Minimum two years’ experience in maternal-child health nursing in acute care
- Continuing education in lactation and breastfeeding
- AHA/Red Cross BLS certification
- NRP within 3 months of hire
- Current ACLS/PALS not specified - not included
