Job Summary
Provides expert lactation care in accordance with ILCA Standards of Practice for IBCLC Lactation Consultants; conducts informal and formal staff development on breastfeeding management; serves as expert consultant to maternal-child staff, physicians, and other healthcare professionals for complex breastfeeding cases; participates in program development and practices within the family-centered maternity care model.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited professional school of nursing
- Current RN License in the State of Texas or compact license
- Associate Degree required
- BSN preferred within 24 months of hire into RN position
- IBCLC required within two years of hire
- Continuing education in lactation and breastfeeding required
- Minimum of two years’ experience in maternal-child health nursing in an acute care setting
- Experience with breastfeeding management
- Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS provider
- NRP within 3 months of hire
