Job Summary
Lactation Consultant RN provides expert lactation management per ILCA standards, serves as an advisor to maternal-child staff and physicians on complex breastfeeding problems, participates in program development, and conducts staff development activities. Requires RN license (Texas or compact), IBCLC within two years, BLS and NRP, and an Associate Degree with two years in maternal-child health nursing in an acute care/acute care setting; BSN preferred for RN roles.
Required Qualifications
- RN license in Texas or compact license
- IBCLC required within two years of hire
- Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS provider
- NRP within 3 months of hire
- Associate Degree required
- Two years’ experience in maternal-child health nursing in an acute care setting
- Experience with breastfeeding management
- BSN preferred (if RN, BSN required within 24 months of hire)
- Graduate from an accredited professional school of nursing
