Job Summary

Conduct structured on-boarding sessions with newly assigned Construction Managers and Inspectors, ensuring consistent understanding of PMD III requirements and construction delivery protocols. Assess current workflows to identify process gaps and develop recommendations for standardized procedures, checklists, and best practices across infrastructure construction management. Lead recurring portfolio reviews covering schedule performance, budget status, and risk items, preparing summary reports and dashboards for senior management and Section Heads. Monitor on-site field activities, ensuring operations follow approved work plans, Area Shutdown Requests, and latest plans and specifications. Collaborate with Design/Builder teams to develop construction planning, identify critical milestones, and negotiate contractor change order claims to final resolution.

Required Qualifications

  • 20 years or more of experience, preferably on airport projects
  • Experience with projects valued at more than $100 million
  • Experience with various delivery methods, including Design-Bid-Build, Design+CMAR, and Design/Build
  • Proven ability to perform in a management capacity
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations
  • Multiple positions are anticipated — submitted experience should emphasize airport concourse scope, airport headhouse scope, or site/civil scope
  • Minimum 5 years (CM I) or 10 years (CM II) of construction management experience managing horizontal infrastructure projects
  • Must have a minimum of 3 references from current public agency employees
  • Licensed professional or Certified Construction Manager (CCM)
  • Education background in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to independently complete assignments
  • Ability to develop and maintain logs
  • Ability to interpret contract plans and specifications, including other agency permits
  • Ability to effectively facilitate project team and client meetings
  • Ability to effectively monitor and coordinate project activities with the various project stakeholders
  • Ability to adapt and respond effectively to project issues and challenges
  • Knowledge of the Greenbook or Caltrans specifications
  • Must be local for this position
  • Hybrid may be acceptable

Desired Qualifications

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam
  • Familiarity with Project Management Information Systems (PM Web)
