Job Summary
Labour Relations Officer (Servicing) responsible for guiding and supporting members and ensuring the rights of members are achieved in health-care labour relations. Key duties include supporting Bargaining Units and Locals in negotiations, contract administration, and health & safety; assisting with capacity/workload issues; advising on professional practice issues with the Professional Practice Specialist; and contributing to arbitrations and advocacy within a health-care context. Requires a university degree or equivalent in Industrial/Labour Relations or related field, several years of labour relations experience, and strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills, with travel as needed.
Required Qualifications
- University degree, diploma or certificate in Industrial/Labour Relations or related equivalent education
- Three (3) to five (5) years of labour relations experience representing union members in a similar role
- Knowledge of procedures, practices and techniques used in collective bargaining and labour management negotiations
- Full understanding of relevant legislation (e.g. Employment Standards Act, Ontario Labour Relations Act, Human Rights Code)
- Demonstrated leadership, mentorship and coaching skills
- Excellent client relations, communication and advocacy skills
- Ability to travel, valid driver’s license and access to a automobile for business use
