Job Summary
Conduct machine and manual floor scrubbing, carpet shampooing, waxing, and buffing. Perform snow shoveling, mowing, trimming, edging grass, weeding, raking, lawn repair, and cleaning walks and parking lots. Mop floors in cafeterias, kitchens, locker rooms, and lavatories while sweeping, dusting, vacuuming, and cleaning glass and walls. Handle stock, replenish supplies, and replace light bulbs. Assist a lead custodian with heavy tasks requiring two people for safety. Maintain regular daily attendance and physical readiness to carry heavy items, operate custodial equipment, and work in a team environment. Work 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, M-F, at the current contract rate of $18.00/hour plus shift differential.
Required Qualifications
- General knowledge of cleaning procedures
- General knowledge of the operation of power tools
- High School diploma or GED
- Must be ambulatory; ability to walk and carry heavy items and to be able to operate all custodial equipment
- Must have good vision; ability to see well enough to clean standards set by supervisor or district
- Must possess physical strength; enough strength to lift, move, and carry heavy items throughout the day
- Intelligence; must be able to evaluate a problem, devise and implement a solution
- Must possess social skills; must be able to work in a team environment
