Job Summary
Perform general labor tasks including plant cleaning, shoveling, wheelbarrow work, scaling, and jackhammering. Unload and load materials such as coal, bricks, and cement for shipping. Execute site maintenance duties like picking up debris, digging ditches, and making excavations. Mix and handle concrete and refractory materials, and work at elevations using authorized safety equipment. Assist with kiln relining by hauling, hoisting, or passing bricks, and support departmental control room operators. Adhere strictly to safety procedures, complete equipment inspections, and read, write, speak, and understand English. Join the Union after a 90-day probationary period.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
- Must consistently adhere to safety procedures and guidelines throughout the plant
- Ability to perform various tasks and adapt to different roles as needed, including relief work for other classifications
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Must be available for weekend shifts
- Valid driver's license
- Must be able to effectively lead and coach others
- Strong attention to detail
