Job Summary
Operate jackhammers, drills, and power tools to position, join, and seal structural components like concrete walls and pipes. Mix, pour, and spread concrete while spraying materials to clean, coat, or seal surfaces. Dig trenches, backfill excavations, and compact earth to grade specifications using picks, shovels, and pneumatic tampers. Erect and disassemble scaffolding, shoring, braces, and traffic barricades. Load, unload building materials, and handle heavy items over 80 pounds on uneven terrain. Lubricate, clean, and repair machinery, and signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment and movement. Control traffic near work zones and learn safety regulations. Work long, flexible hours including nights, weekends, and outside seasons as demanded by customers. Provide assistance to craft workers such as carpenters, plasterers, and masons. Perform additional duties as required by immediate supervisors.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a minimum of 18 years old
- Must have a good work ethic and be dependable
- Candidate must have reliable transportation to the job site
- Must not be frightened of heights or working near or over water
- Must be willing to work nights and/or weekends if needed
- Must be able to lift or move heavy weight material (over 80 pounds)
- Position requires ability to exchange ideas quickly and clearly
- Position requires ability to receive and evaluate detailed information and instructions
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required
- General construction experience preferred but not required
- Bridge construction experience is a plus
