Job Summary
Assist in the installation and maintenance of overhead lines and cables while transporting tools, materials, and equipment to the job site. Operate bucket trucks and other machinery under supervision, ensuring all equipment remains in good working condition. Adhere to safety protocols by wearing appropriate PPE, setting up barriers, and reporting hazards. Prepare work sites by clearing debris and clean up after completion, including proper waste disposal. Communicate effectively with aerial linemen and team members throughout the process. Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including sub-zero temperatures and heat above 90 degrees, often involving lifting 10 to 50 pounds and standing or driving for long periods. Maintain a valid driver's license and attend required training sessions.
Required Qualifications
- Must have a valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record
- Basic knowledge of and ability to operate various types of utility trucks and equipment in a safe manner
- Basic knowledge of and ability to use hand tools and equipment in a safe manner
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers, employees, etc
- Regular and timely attendance
- Must be able to lift 10 to 50 pounds frequently
- Must be able to reach and lift overhead
- Must be able to stand, crawl, climb, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling and reaching a majority of the time
- Must be able to spend long periods of time driving and/or riding in line construction vehicles
- Must be able to work overtime, after hours, on weekends as needed
- Must be able to travel
Desired Qualifications
- Class A Commercial Driver's License
- 6 months of experience in the utility construction industry
- Ability to read prints and interpret utility maps to identify the type and size of underground utilities
