Job Summary
Assist skilled construction workers in performing assigned duties and execute a large variety of tasks including digging, spreading, and leveling dirt and gravel; lifting, carrying, and holding building materials, tools, and supplies; cleaning tools, equipment, materials, and work areas; mixing, spreading, or pouring concrete, asphalt, gravel, or other materials; joining, wrapping, and sealing sections of pipe; removing forms from set concrete; filling expansion joints with asphalt; and placing culvert sections in trenches. Work is checked frequently according to specific procedures, with duties assigned based on project progression. Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction while adhering to job site safety requirements, including wearing appropriate PPE such as hard hats, steel toe boots, and respirators.
Required Qualifications
- High school or equivalent
- Ability to follow instructions without being distracted
- Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation
- Job site safety requirements as required by the client (clean shaven, long sleeves, steel toe boots, etc.)
- Safety equipment as required by the client (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, safety harness with lanyard, etc.)
- Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace
- Digs, spreads and levels dirt and gravel
- Lifts, carries, and holds building materials, tools, and supplies
- Cleans tools, equipment, materials, and work areas
- Mixes, spreads, or pours concrete, asphalt, gravel, or other materials
- Joins, wraps, and seals sections of pipe
- Performs a variety of non-machine tasks such as, removing forms from set concrete, filling expansion joints with asphalt, placing culvert sections in trench, etc.
- Spends time on one job or may be transferred from task to task as the project progresses to completion
- Performs additional assignments per supervisor's direction
- Climbing ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc. above and below ground level
- Maintaining balance on ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc.
- Reaching in all directions
- Handling and manipulating objects and materials
- Coordinating the movements of eyes, hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment
- Lifting 30 to 50 pounds from ground level, waist level, and/or overhead
- Carrying objects, tools, equipment, etc.
