Job Summary
Laborer position supporting heavy and environmental construction tasks; assist in safety procedures, operate a range of small power and hand tools, including tampers, saws, straw blowers, seeders, surveying/measuring devices, concrete tools, pumps, and compressors. Requires safety training, potential out-of-town travel up to three weeks, and adherence to Site Safety Plan. Responsibilities include enforcing safe practices, completing hazard analyses, reviewing operator manuals, site preparation, signaling equipment, trenching/backfilling, alignment of structural components, measuring openings for record drawings, material handling, setting up traffic control, erosion-control work on environmental projects, and SWPPP inspections. Training and progression evaluations apply, with emphasis on safety, quality, customer service, and adherence to OSHA/First Aid/CPR requirements. Education preferred: high school diploma, GED, or trade school certificate; strong safety knowledge and willingness to work across multiple construction sites.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or trade school certificate preferred
- Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
- Clean driving record
- Must be over 18 to operate power-driven saws and other equipment
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening and random drug tests if selected
- Knowledge of construction site safety and road safety regulations
- Ability to travel to different sites; out-of-town travel up to three weeks
- Must wear required PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, ear plugs, safety vests, safety-toed boots)
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks (repetitive motion, heavy lifting up to 50 lbs)
- Must complete OSHA 30 and First Aid/CPR requirements before starting
- Ability to read and measure openings/distances for record drawings
- Ability to operate or assist with equipment such as tractors, rollers, skid steers
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and hazard recognition
