Job Summary
Laborer performs safety-focused construction tasks on heavy, underground, and environmental projects. Work includes operating small power and hand tools, adhering to safety training and procedures, assisting with trenching, compaction, measuring openings, setting up traffic control devices, and supporting erosion control and seed-bed work. The role requires willingness to travel out of town for up to three weeks at a time, strict attendance, and maintaining compliance with site safety plans. Knowledge of safety procedures, hazard recognition, and use of PPE is essential, as is the ability to lift up to 50 lbs and operate equipment after training. A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, along with a clean driving record and OSHA-related safety knowledge. The position is full-time with a typical schedule of five 10-hour days, with varying project needs and potential out-of-state travel.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or trade school certificate preferred
- Must be over 18 to operate power-driven saws and perform excavations
- Clean driving record
- Pass pre-employment drug screen and random drug screening if selected
- Must attend mandatory safety meetings and participate with safety personnel
- Ability to travel out of town, sometimes out of state, for project needs
- Must be physically able to perform heavy lifting and manual labor in construction environments
