Job Summary
Conduct cleanup of debris, grounds, and buildings; strip concrete framework and remove exposed ties. Unload materials and deliveries to the project site, then perform hand excavation, digging trenches, raking, tamping, and compacting soil. Place concrete in formwork, vibrate concrete, and set up ladders, scaffolding, and planking. Wrap and cover with tarps or blankets, mix mortar and grout, and backfill or grade earth. Lay drains, sewers, piping, and assemble manholes and catch basins. Handle and place riprap, spread asphalt, screed concrete, patch holes, and perform demolition. Set and strip sidewalk forms, install temporary weather protection, and rig precast concrete slabs. Sandblast, apply curing compounds, and install insulation and moisture barriers. Perform fire watch activities and work in moving mechanical parts, precarious places, and varying weather conditions. Must currently live in New England with travel to other New England locations and occasional out-of-state or overnight trips. Full-time, hourly non-exempt position with a pay range of $23–$42/hr.
Required Qualifications
- High School or Vocational and/or relevant work experience
- Minimum 1-3+ years of experience within the construction industry
- Proven ability to excel in a fast-paced environment
- Strong team player with a positive attitude
- Hard working and motivated
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time, and safely maneuver around the nearby presence of various construction equipment and vehicles, on an active construction site
- Prepared to regularly encounter moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, and a variety of outside weather conditions
- Able to climb temporary or permanent stairs, and ladders
- Able to bend, squat, kneel, crawl, crouch, balance, and stoop, reach on a regular basis
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
