Job Summary
Direct loose refuse to prevent scattering, manually pick up windblown paper from the landfill periphery, and use a mobile vacuum to gather refuse along the fenced border. Drive a tractor pulling the vacuum to clear the exterior land, then park and guide the hose to vacuum remaining paper from the fence and ground. During peak summer traffic, direct truck flow at the landfill entrance using verbal communication or hand signals. Lift construction materials like lumber and concrete mix for site maintenance, and manually separate metal, white goods, lumber, and cardboard from trash on the tipping floor. Work Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional Saturdays.
Required Qualifications
- Licenses as required by Local, State, Federal, Environmental and/or Health/Safety Regulatory agencies
- Must be able to lift construction materials for projects related to site maintenance i.e., lumber, bags of concrete mix, hand tools, etc.
- Must be able to use hand tools such as shovels, picks, axes and chain saws
- Must be able to manually separate metal, white goods, lumber and cardboard from trash on tipping floor at landfills with transfer station
- Must be able to manually pick up windblown paper from periphery of landfill
- Must be able to carry a large plastic trash bag
- Must be able to drive tractor pulling vacuum
- Must be able to park and descend the tractor
- Must be able to grasp the vacuum hose handle and guide to vacuum loose paper from the fence and ground
- Must be able to ascend and descend the tractor cab
- Must be able to direct the flow of trucks
- Must be able to communicate with the drivers verbally or by hand signals
- Must strictly comply with all safety rules and protocols
- Must be subject to drug and alcohol testing—including pre‐employment screening, post‐incident evaluations, reasonable suspicion checks, and random testing
