Job Summary
Laborer needed to assist in the safe completion of heavy construction, underground/utilities, and environmental construction projects. Responsibilities include operating small power and hand tools, following safety training and site procedures, reviewing tool manuals, maintaining safety records (SLAM Booklet, THA), signaling equipment operators, setting up site and traffic controls, trenching/backfilling, measuring and marking openings, loading/unloading materials, and assisting in erosion control and environmental tasks. Travel up to three weeks away from home is probable. Pay range from $26.79 to $30.52 per hour; out-of-town travel and safety-focused duties are emphasized.
Required Qualifications
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required
- A high school diploma, GED, or trade school certificate is preferred
- Clean driving record
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screening
- Must attend all mandatory safety meetings and participate in discussions with the work crew and any safety personnel on site
- Must be over 18 to operate power-driven saws including chain saws, woodchippers, abrasive cutting disks, or other power-driven equipment, or to perform excavating operations
- Must pass the 30 Hour OSHA testing and First Aid/CPR requirements before starting work
- Must complete and meet requirements under the physical demands of this job description through a pre-employment physical examination
