Job Summary
Operate light machinery and hand tools to perform strenuous manual labor on mining and heavy construction projects. Dig trenches, set braces, erect scaffolding, clean rubble, and dispose of waste materials while maintaining a secure job site. Coordinate tasks using mobile radio units and assist other craft workers as needed. Work 10-12 hour shifts including night rotations in extreme cold, heat, and inclement weather with frequent exposure to noise, vibration, and moving mechanical parts. Report hazards and damage immediately to supervisors.
Required Qualifications
- A valid driver license
- 6 months of prior experience as a laborer on remote construction
- knowledge of safe operation of basic hand and power tools
- Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures
- Knowledge of and ability maintain equipment and follow related procedures
- Ability to perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor
- Ability to communicate information in writing so others will understand
- Ability to effectively understand and communicate verbally with others
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to work independently or as a team member successfully
- Ability to ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed
- Ability to meet project schedule with dependability and consistency
- Ability to wear protective clothing
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Must be able to lift 100 lbs

- Must be able to carry 100 lbs
- Must be able to push/pull 50 lbs

- Must be able to work with possible diesel fumes
- Must be aware of the potential hazards of working around equipment
Desired Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Three or more years' experience as a laborer on remote construction
- MSHA certification
