Job Summary
Conduct general labor duties at hauling companies, transfer stations, recycling centers, or landfills, including yard clean-up, fueling vehicles, operating site equipment, and performing office maintenance. Assist with collection routes and execute yard work such as mowing and trash removal. Maintain safety and health standards by participating in weekly safety meetings and adapting duties based on business needs. Work rotating shifts with overtime as required. Maintain reasonable, regular, and punctual attendance in compliance with federal and state standards.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum 6 months of related experience in an industrial environment
- Ability to complete safety, operational, and other required training within a scheduled period
- Communication skills sufficient for the required job functions
- Demonstrated technical knowledge and skills sufficient to complete routine tasks
- Demonstrated success in the use of required safety equipment
- Required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as keyboarding, machine operation, etc.) for most of the workday
- Required to exert physical effort in handling objects more or less than 30 pounds
- Required to be exposed to physical and occupational risks (such as cuts, burns, exposure to toxic chemicals, etc.)
- Required to be exposed to a physical environment that involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes, or similar elements
- Clarity of vision
- Work overtime and rotating shifts from the scheduled start to the scheduled end time
- Take an active role in the improvement of safety and health in the workplace
- Participate in all required Company meetings, including weekly safety meetings
- Maintains reasonable, regular, punctual attendance consistent with Company policies, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and other federal, state, and local standards
- Adapts to changing duties, as required, based on business needs
Desired Qualifications
- Two years of experience in an industrial environment as a Material handler or comparable position is preferred
