Job Summary
Laborer (Construction) at Maine Drilling & Blasting focusing on hand-on learning in the drilling and blasting industry. Responsibilities include adhering to safety procedures, submitting weekly time cards, learning safety aspects of construction sites around explosives, taking direction to perform labor tasks, working unsupervised at times, pumping blast holes with water, loading/unloading explosives, carrying stemming stone to blast holes, keeping the job site clean and organized, and participating in safety meetings. Position requires a valid driver's license, ability to pass physical, drug screen, ATF background check, and physical labor with the capacity to lift up to 100 lbs; out-of-town travel and overtime may be required. Starting pay $18.00-$20.00 per hour with a weekly travel allowance, with potential pay increases as training and targets are met. Active work areas include several PA locations (Harrisburg, Hershey, Lancaster, York, Lebanon, Carlisle, Reading, Hazleton, Pottsville) and Winchester, VA.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Driver's License with good driving record and own transportation
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical & drug screen
- Must successfully pass criminal background check for ATF
- Experience with construction laborer helpful, but not necessary
- Ability to lift up to 100 lbs occasionally, 5% of the time
- Ability to lift 50lbs, 50% of the time
- Stooping and bending 60 – 70% of the time
- Must be able to work outside in varying weather conditions
- Out of town travel and overtime may be required
