Job Summary
Laboratory Training and Competency Coordinator (Evening Shift) leads technical operations and competency programs in the Banner Desert/Lab BDMC setting. The role provides onsite supervision, ensures quality control/assurance, adheres to accreditation standards (CLIA ’88, JCAHO, CAP, OSHA), oversees workflow and staff development, supports cost- and performance-improvement initiatives, and coordinates training and competency assessments for MLS/MLT staff. Requires a bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory science/medical technology or chemical/biological science with relevant nonwaived testing experience (or an associate degree with extended experience), plus credential evaluation for foreign-educated candidates where applicable. The position emphasizes collaboration with supervisors and directors, regulatory compliance, and active participation in departmental projects and quality initiatives. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science/medical technology, or chemical/biological science, with two (2) years of laboratory training or experience in nonwaived testing in the designated specialty/sub-specialty area OR Associate degree in medical laboratory technology/clinical laboratory science with four (4) years of laboratory training or experience in nonwaived testing in the designated specialty/sub-specialty area
- Foreign educated candidates must provide credential evaluation from IERF or another recognized credentialing agency for review to determine eligibility
- Certification (MLS or categorical) for Technical Coordinator II path where required in certain specialty disciplines
- For certain specialty disciplines where no certification is available, bachelor’s degree with two (2) years of experience in that discipline may be required
