Job Summary
Laboratory Technologist (MLT/MT) performs comprehensive laboratory tests across areas such as hematology, immunohematology, immunology, bacteriology, microscopy, routine chemistry, and therapeutic drug monitoring, calibrates/maintains instruments, conducts quality control, reports results promptly, and assists with policy development. Duties include phlebotomies as appropriate, quality assurance activities, safety practices, and supporting orientation/training of students and new staff, with a focus on accurate reporting to physicians and adherence to lab protocols. Requires national certification (AMT or ASCP) and appropriate education; position involves evening shift, weekend rotation, and general supervision under the Laboratory Manager. Commitment to professional standards and the hospital’s mission and values is essential.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Medical Technology or related area of specialty
- Certification/registration or certification/registry eligible as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Technician is required
- Knowledge of the principles, methods, materials, equipment and techniques of medical technology
- Skill in both verbal and written communication
