Job Summary
Laboratory Technologist I or II performing diagnostic testing on patient samples according to laboratory policy, managing workflow based on policy and patient needs, maintaining quality control records, and ensuring accreditation standards are met. Responsibilities include routine/unplanned maintenance of equipment, overseeing LIS operations and QC, performing venipunctures and specimen preparation, reporting results to physicians/nurses, participating in quality improvement activities, and providing after-hours coverage as needed. Requires ASCP certification and required CLS/CLIA-aligned training; appropriate lab experience in microbiology, molecular diagnostics, urinalysis, hematology, serology, chemistry/Immunoassay, blood bank, and coagulation; hospital-based teamwork and continuous professional development.
Required Qualifications
- Technician - Associates degree from an accredited Medical Laboratory Technician program, including successful completion of an internship OR CLIA approved equivalent
- ASCP Certified
- Technologist - Bachelor's degree from an accredited Medical Technology program, including successful completion of an internship OR CLIA approved equivalent
- ASCP Certified
- BLS required
- Experience or willingness to train in all areas of the lab. Microbiology, molecular, urinalysis, hematology, serology, chemistry/IA, blood bank, coagulation. Experience in phlebotomy preferred but not required
