Job Summary
Perform diagnostic testing on patient samples, manage LIS operations, and maintain quality control records according to laboratory policy. Execute venipunctures, arterial punctures, and specimen collection while prioritizing workflow based on individual patient needs. Conduct routine equipment maintenance, prepare specimens for transfer, and report results to physicians within established timeframes. Provide adequate laboratory coverage, including scheduled, unscheduled, and after-hours shifts as required. Adhere to strict conformance with accreditation standards and participate in department meetings, quality improvement activities, and in-services.
Required Qualifications
- Technician - Associates degree from an accredited Medical Laboratory Technician program, including successful completion of an internship OR CLIA approved equivalent
- ASCP Certified
- Technologist - Bachelor's degree from an accredited Medical Technology program, including successful completion of an internship OR CLIA approved equivalent
- ASCP Certified
- BLS required
Desired Qualifications
- Experience or willingness to train in all areas of the lab. Microbiology, molecular, urinalysis, hematology, serology, chemistry/IA, blood bank, coagulation
- Experience in phlebotomy preferred but not required
