Job Summary
The Laboratory Technologist will perform high- and low-complexity laboratory assays across multiple areas, including phlebotomy, specimen processing, and LIS data entry, ensuring specimen integrity and timely patient results. Responsibilities include validating test orders and specimen quality, maintaining reagents and instrument performance, documenting quality control/assurance, and contributing to a quality management system to meet CAP/JCAHO/OSHA/DOH standards. The role requires independent judgment, collaboration with healthcare providers to interpret results, readiness to handle regulatory documentation, and the ability to manage workflow and turnaround times while adhering to safety protocols and environmental controls. The position supports on-site operations in Greensburg, PA, with potential for local travel between system locations and rotating/on-call shifts as required.
Required Qualifications
- Associate of Science or higher-level degree in chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology OR Equivalent laboratory training and experience meeting CLIA 88 for high complexity testing
- Knowledge of Medical terminology and laboratory information system
- Functional skills in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook
- Strong leadership ability, organizational skills, independent and critical thinking, sound judgment, and knowledge of legal aspects and liability of nursing practice
- Strong ability to communicate complex topics to diverse audience
