Job Summary
Laboratory Technician in Surgical Pathology/Gross Room responsible for triage and accessioning of Surgical Pathology specimens, quality control/assurance, instrument maintenance, and liaison support within Anatomic Pathology; operates under general supervision to ensure turnaround times, safety, and compliance while providing backup coverage across related areas including Decedent Affairs, Histology, and Cytology.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1-3 years work experience as a laboratory technician in a hospital/medical or research laboratory
- Surgical pathology, histology or cytology laboratory experience preferred
- Knowledge of Surgical Pathology techniques and Ancillary Testing (flow cytometry, cytogenetics, electron microscopy, special stains, immunohistochemistry)
- Ability to troubleshoot testing, equipment, and quality issues
- Excellent organizational skills and detail-oriented work
- Good communication and customer relation skills
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to receive and accurately process patient specimens
- Regulatory compliance in Quality Control and competency requirements
