Job Summary
Laboratory Technician at SGS performing laboratory tests to determine chemical and physical characteristics or composition of materials, following SOPs, weighing and testing samples, preparing and maintaining reports, handling client samples, ensuring PPE and safety compliance, and potentially taking on preparation or field responsibilities as required by business needs. Emphasis on quality assurance, equipment maintenance, and adherence to safety procedures; may assist Junior Technicians and perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent Required
- 3+ years working in Industrial Laboratory or Field Services setting Required
- Water Laboratory only: Post secondary (Associate or Bachelor’s) degree in science, or minimum 1-year supervised water testing experience Required
- Associate degree in or including some Science Preferred
- 5+ years working in industrial/lab/field setting with experience following strict safety standards Preferred
- A valid and current Driver’s license may be required if the role requires driving a company vehicle
- May be required to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Card)
- May be required to obtain 24-hour surface Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) certificate, training is available through SGS
