Job Summary
Record test results and assemble data for water quality, biological sampling, and mosquito species composition. Identify non-target organisms, including adult and larval mosquitoes and ticks, using microscopes. Perform chemical tests on water to detect industrial waste and analyze bituminous specimens, soils, and concrete. Conduct microbiological testing to measure total and fecal coliform bacteria in wastewater effluence. Operate physical and chemical testing apparatus, monitor toxic materials in wastewater, and assist in testing new procedures. Set up, break down, and clean all test equipment. This entry-level role supports technical and administrative supervisors in interpreting results and adhering to established policies.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from a college with federally-authorized accreditation or registration by NY State with an Associate's degree in one of the natural sciences (physical or biological)
- Graduation from a standard senior high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and two (2) years of technical laboratory experience
- An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of (a) and (b)
- Valid New York State Driver's license
