Laboratory Technician (PRN)

Job Summary
Process and prepare specimens for reference laboratories, identifying issues and implementing corrective actions when necessary. Operate general laboratory equipment including automated analyzers, centrifuges, and microscopes while championing safety, compliance, and quality control in a fast-paced environment with biological and chemical hazards. Recognize when corrective action is needed and execute effective solutions to maintain operational standards. This role requires an associate's degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology with one year of experience performing high complexity testing. Schedule includes a PRN first shift from Tuesday to Saturday.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution
- 1 year of laboratory training or experience performing high complexity testing
- Strong reading, writing, and analytical skills
- Ability to operate general laboratory equipment, including but not limited to: telephones, computers, automated analyzers, centrifuges, microscopes, manual and automated pipettes, and audible alarms
- Ability to work in a fast-paced laboratory environment with biological and chemical hazards
- Ability to champion safety, compliance, and quality control
- Ability to identify specimen issues and resolve issues with specimen types
- Ability to recognize when corrective action is needed and implement effective solutions
- Ability to access Protected Health Information (PHI) as required to fulfill job duties
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding PHI and abide by all applicable privacy and security standards

- 2+ years of laboratory training or experience performing high complexity testing within area of specialty
