Job Summary
Conduct mechanical and chemical testing of in-process, raw materials, and finished metals to ensure compliance with internal mill, customer, ASTM, and Aluminum Association specifications. Perform chemical analysis of mill coolants, additives, and chemicals used in the manufacturing process and conduct metallography testing for quality assurance. Support qualification trials and customer claims activities while upholding safety absolutes and environmental standards. Work 24/7 operations including overtime, weekends, and holidays. Located at Novelis' new Bay Minette facility in Alabama.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Basic manufacturing experience
- Ability to work as scheduled (including overtime, weekends and holidays) to support our 24/7 operations
- Basic computer and math skills
Desired Qualifications
- Associates degree in STEM/technology or similar field
- Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills, ability to design testing experiments, collect, analyze and present the results proactively
- 3 years of chemical, lab, or quality control experience in manufacturing industry
- Basic knowledge of data analysis software
