Job Summary
Conduct testing and analysis on base and precious metal ores, industrial minerals, and materials by receiving, inspecting, sorting, and labeling client samples. Sort, crush, pulverize, split, and screen samples while calibrating and setting up equipment prior to analysis. Design, develop, test, install, and operate equipment and systems; troubleshoot and repair components as needed. Compile and analyze data to prepare reports, maintaining a clean working environment. Requires a post-secondary diploma in a science-related program, one to three years of laboratory experience, and proficiency in computer software. Work 40 hours per week at a rate of $20.50 to $21.50 per hour.
Required Qualifications
- A post-secondary education (three-year diploma) in a Science related program (Chemistry, Metallurgical Engineering Technology, etc.)
- A minimum of 1 – 3 years of experience in a laboratory setting
- Good hand/eye coordination when handling samples and various equipment
- Must be able to read, understand and follow work instructions in a safe, accurate and timely manner
- Proficiency in using various types of computer software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook)
- Effective time management skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, in both verbal and written communication
- Ability to work well under pressure during high (peak) workloads and to balance conflicting demands of high volume versus quality of results
