Laboratory Technician - Inorganic Wet Chemistry

Job Summary

Prepare and analyze environmental samples using inorganic wet chemistry techniques such as titration, spectrophotometry, and ion-selective electrode testing. Operate laboratory equipment including pipettes, balances, and liquid-handling instruments while maintaining sample integrity and following Standard Operating Procedures. Monitor inventory, perform routine equipment maintenance, and document deviations for compliance with ISO 17025 requirements. Review LIMS reports to prioritize daily tasks in a high-volume setting and escalate non-conformances to the supervisor. Work on-site in Mississauga from Tuesday to Saturday with overtime available based on operational needs.

Required Qualifications

  • College Diploma or University Degree in Chemistry or a related field
  • practical laboratory experience
  • exposure to inorganic analytical techniques such as titration, spectrophotometry, combustion, colorimetry, and/or ion-selective electrode (ISE) testing
  • Environmental laboratory experience
  • comfortable operating laboratory equipment such as pipettes, balances, pH meters, filtration equipment, and liquid-handling instruments
  • understanding of the importance of accurately following SOPs
  • maintaining detailed records
  • protecting sample integrity
  • producing reliable analytical data
  • manage your time effectively
  • prioritize competing tasks
  • maintain accuracy while working in a high-volume laboratory environment
  • recognize when something doesn't look right
  • investigate issues within established procedures
  • know when to escalate a problem to your Supervisor
  • communicate clearly with colleagues and supervisors
  • provide timely updates when priorities change or delays arise
