Job Summary
Laboratory Technician for the Indiana Department of Health TB laboratory. Responsibilities include specimen accessioning, maintaining a clean and biosafe lab environment, safely disposing of biohazardous waste, maintaining inventory, preparing media/reagents, data entry, and documenting quality control/quality assurance in compliance with CLIA regulations. The role also involves potential cross-training in other clinical testing areas and serving as a backup for other testing. Required capabilities include understanding Chain of Custody, teamwork in a laboratory setting, maintaining laboratory records per regulations, cross-training in additional testing areas, and familiarity with standard laboratory techniques, equipment operation (balances, centrifuges, microscopes, pipettes, autoclaves, pH meters), and compliance with state/federal laws. A High School Diploma or HSE with 2+ years of related experience is acceptable; degree not required. Supervisory responsibilities may be assigned based on agency needs, and a comprehensive benefits package is offered.
