Job Summary
Laboratory Technician for the Geotechnical Laboratory in Louvain-la-Neuve, responsible for core-logging, soil identification, sub-sampling, and performing geotechnical laboratory tests to high safety and quality standards. responsibilities include recording and processing test data, calibrating instruments, maintaining calibration records, and contributing to daily laboratory operations. Requires fluency in French and English, strong numeracy and IT skills (Excel), the ability to work independently or in a team, and a willingness to travel to the UK (Wallingford) for onboarding and occasional travel to the UK. The role offers a collaborative, multicultural environment and development opportunities in one of Europe’s largest geotechnical laboratories.
Required Qualifications
- Solid general education
- Fluency in French and English
- 1–5 years of experience preferred, but motivated newcomers are welcome
- Strong numeracy, literacy and IT skills (Excel proficiency required)
- Good organization and ability to work alone or with a team
- Excellent attention to detail and strict adherence to procedures
- Basic understanding of scientific or technical principles (physics, mechanics, materials)
- Willingness to travel occasionally to the UK and to work on the vessels
