Laboratory Technician C Mining - Seasonal

Job Summary
Perform basic laboratory procedures including sample weighing, reagent preparation, and calibration solutions. Carry standard geochemical analysis procedures for soil, rock, and ore samples. Provide general lab support such as washing glassware, cleaning workstations, and waste disposal. Calibrate, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot basic to intermediate equipment including bottle-top dispensers, pipettes, furnaces, and hot blocks. Compile, verify, and validate accurate data records while meeting quality assurance and turn-around specifications. Follow all Quality Control and Standard Operating Procedures. Upload results using reporting software. Work early morning or evening shifts including weekends in the Mining Geochemistry Lab in Calgary. Contractual position ending October 30th, 2026, with extension possibility.
Required Qualifications
- Post-secondary education with a Technical Diploma or Degree
- Currently enrolled in a chemistry, geology or other science-related program
- 1+ years previous laboratory experience
- Experience with basic laboratory chemicals, including handling of acids, and associated safe work practices
- Familiarity with basic laboratory Quality Assurance guidelines
- An understanding of the principles of chemistry
- Ability to comprehend and follow laboratory Standard Operating Procedure documents and guidelines
- Strong computer skills including proficiency using Excel
- Fluency in English, both verbal and written
- Ability to lift 25+ pounds on a consistent basis
- Ability to perform work in a hot environment
