Job Summary
Laboratory Technical Assistant handles phlebotomy collection (venipuncture, capillary puncture), prepares patients for throat culture, urine, and other specimens, and performs waived laboratory testing per established protocols. Responsibilities include documenting patient specimen flow in the Laboratory Information System (LIS), specimen processing, maintaining safe work practices, and assisting with new employee orientation and training. Position is a 1.0 FTE, day shift at Olmsted Medical Center with on-site work in Rochester, MN. Core duties emphasize phlebotomy proficiency, accurate order management, and adherence to patient safety standards; technical skills include handling immunology, urinalysis, chemistry, and hematology specimens within waived testing levels.
Required Qualifications
- Phlebotomy experience/certification preferred
- Medical terminology preferred
- Computer data entry skills preferred
- Previous laboratory experience preferred
- BLS certification within 90 days of hire
