Job Summary
Perform blood specimen collection on adult and pediatric patients, including venous, capillary, and blood culture samples, while verifying patient identity against Epic. Order laboratory tests, process specimens, prepare samples for reference labs, and deliver STAT results promptly. Train and competency assess new staff, act as a resource for daily operations, and cover additional shifts when needed. Maintain specimen integrity, complete incident reports for variances, and monitor Right Fax for failed transmissions. Achieve and maintain national phlebotomy certification to advance career ladder status.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum one (1) year experience as an LST
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum two (2) years experience as an LST
- CPT-A Phlebotomy Certification (CPT) from training in a formal phlebotomy program which includes a minimum of sixty hours of didactic training and sixty hours of clinical experience, or one hundred observed phlebotomy draws
