Laboratory Supervisor - Gen Lab + Toxicology

Job Summary
Organize, direct, and control workflow aspects of the Gen Lab and Toxicology section to improve processes for high-quality, cost-effective services. Provide direct supervision to 10 to 40 technical staff by hiring, training, conducting performance evaluations, and managing promotions, transfers, and performance actions. Oversee work schedules and daily activities while ensuring expenditures align with annual budget requirements. Confers with the director/manager on unusual situations to maintain quality, timely, and reliable service for internal and external customers including hospitals, pathologists, and regulatory agencies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology
- Four (4) years' training and experience in high-complexity testing in the respective specialty
- Able to sit, stand, walk, end, squat, reach, and stretch frequently
- May be required to lift up to 25 pounds
- Must use standard precautions due to threat of exposure to blood and body fluids
- Needs adequate color vision
- Requires significant use of computer, phone and general office equipment
- Needs adequate visual acuity, ability to grasp and handle objects
- Ability to communicate effectively
- May require off-site travel
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory Science
- MLS or Specialty Certification
- One (1) year of supervisory experience
