Job Summary
Lead and manage the Metals Department, overseeing analysts and the preparation and analysis of environmental samples using prescribed methods. Ensure timely delivery of high-quality data, review and approve analyses, lead SOP development and equipment maintenance, and ensure compliance with Quality System and ISO 17025. Responsibilities include managing training, backlogs, turnaround times, data review/approval, use of Horizon LIMS, documenting results in controlled logs, maintaining safety and housekeeping, and driving implementation of new analytical methods in response to regulatory or client needs. Strong emphasis on quality, safety, documentation, communication with the Inorganic Manager, and staff development.
Required Qualifications
- Four-year college degree in a scientific field or equivalent
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a laboratory environment
- Knowledge of and ability to teach laboratory analytical skills
- Familiarity with Metals technology and methods
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- High energy level and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Cross-training commitment
- Proficiency with computer systems and Excel
- Ability to work irregular hours including overtime
