Job Summary
Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis, unpack and route them to staging areas, and accurately identify and label each sample. Pack and ship specimens to proper testing facilities while properly preparing and storing excess specimen samples. Perform data entry of patient information accurately and timely, and resolve and document any problem specimens. Meet department activity and production goals in a fast-paced production environment. Work Monday through Friday from 9pm to 1am.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Comfortability with handling biological specimens
- Ability to accurately identify specimens
- Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- High level of attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask
- Ability to work in a fast paced production environment and meet established turn-around times
- Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
- Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
- Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
- Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
Desired Qualifications
- 3 months or more of specimen processing experience
- 3 months or more of medical or laboratory experience
