Laboratory Specimen Processor

Job Summary
Specimen-focused role: Prepare and route laboratory specimens for analysis, identify and label specimens, pack and ship samples to testing facilities, and perform data entry of patient information. Maintain accuracy to meet department production goals while handling biological specimens in a fast-paced production environment. Must be able to work 8PM–4:30AM, with rotating weekends, and operate both independently and as part of a team with strong attention to detail and communication. Willingness to handle overtime or other shifts as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 3 months or more of specimen processing experience
- 3 months or more of medical or laboratory experience
- Comfortability with handling biological specimens
- Ability to accurately identify specimens
- Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- High level of attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask
- Ability to work in a fast paced production environment and meet established turn-around times
- Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
- Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
- Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
- Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
