Laboratory Phlebotomist

Job Summary
Phlebotomist draws blood and collects samples for testing, verifies patient records, enters data, and prepares specimens with correct labeling and barcodes. Performs painless venipuncture and capillary puncture for the Coumadin clinic, prepares samples for processing, reconciles day-end orders, and ensures sample integrity. Maintains safety procedures, supports day-to-day activities, and provides guest service to internal teams and patients. Requires phlebotomy certification or MA/phlebotomy program certification and 2+ years of lab experience; familiarity with lab tests, labeling protocols, biohazard safety, and testing requirements for Quest/LabCorp. Willingness to work in a fast-paced, independent, cross-functional environment and participate in cross-training and process improvements.
Required Qualifications
- Phlebotomy certification or M.A. certification or certificate from a phlebotomy program
- 2+ years of experience in Lab
- Understand labeling/ID protocol
- OSHA safety regulations for medical offices
- Universal precautions
- Knowledge of test requirements and how to search Quest/LabCorp for esoteric tests
- Ability to interpret miscellaneous order
- Ability to guide and observe new phlebotomists
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment
