Job Summary
Laboratory Operations & Maintenance Technician to build, maintain, and scale the physical infrastructure enabling rapid scientific and engineering work. You will handle equipment maintenance and reliability, gas and vacuum systems, utilities, instrumentation, automation support, machine shop operations, inventory, and lab buildout projects. Responsibilities include preventative maintenance programs, inspections, calibration checks, servicing vacuum pumps and cooling systems, coordinating vendor service visits, maintaining asset records in MaintainX, labeling and documenting infrastructure changes, utility system upkeep, installation and commissioning activities, controls and instrumentation wiring, fabrication of fixtures and hardware, and ensuring safety compliance (LOTO, PPE). Ideal candidates have 5+ years of related experience, the ability to read P&IDs and drawings, hands-on tooling skills, and a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent hands-on experience; experience with MaintainX (CMMS) and operating in a startup environment is highly valued. Location is Menlo Park, CA, with in-person work preferred.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in laboratory operations, manufacturing, semiconductor, chemical processing, pilot plant, industrial maintenance
- read and interpret P&IDs, mechanical drawings, electrical wiring diagrams, and equipment manuals
- hands-on experience with hand tools, power tools, and mechanical assembly; strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- an associate degree, technical certification, military technical training, trade apprenticeship, or equivalent hands-on experience
- comfort operating in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment
